FAQ’s

  •  Will my animals like the taste of the LivingGreens?

-Absolutely yes, but some may take a little time to adapt to the new type of feed and will not immediately take to it, whereas others will eat it at first sight. Within a few days, even your most finicky animals will be looking forward to eating the LivingGreens .

  •  Will an ASG 1000 require Wide Load shipping expenses?

-No, unlike similar growing chambers, our systems are specifically designed to avoid those extra costs.

  •  What are the dimensions of the ASG 1000?

 -22.5’ x 8’6″ x 10’6″(including roof-mounted HVAC units)

  •  Do I need a shelter to house the growing chamber?

-This depends on the climate where you live. Where temperatures go below freezing, you will need to work with your system in a minimally heated shelter even though the system is weather proof.

  •  What else do I need to provide for operating the system?

-Cement pad, water connection, proper electrical hookup, drainage

  •  How does ASG’s hydroponically grown LivingGreenscompare nutritionally with pasture grass?

-It’s may be hard to believe, but our LivingGreens are actually much more nutritious (at harvest time of 6 days) than pasture grass! This is primarily because the animal consumes the sprouted seed, the root mass and the grass. The moisture content of LivingGreens is 85%; this moisture is 60% protein (not just water!) when measured as dry matter. We have independent NFTA certified lab tests that verify the superior quality of our LivingGreens.

  •  What are some of the advantages of your system over the competition?

-The ASG 1000 system is designed to walk in for easy cleaning; the competition has fixed racking making it extremely difficult to do basic cleaning, maintenance or repair in the interior chamber

 -User-friendly operator interface

-ETL & UL certified for electrical safety and proper insurance coverage

–Not a Wide Load for shipping

 -Self-contained system

 -Custom water filtration system

 -Patent-Pending Technology

  •  How much time does it take on a daily basis to work with the system?

-The largest ASG system takes approximately 1 hour to: harvest and feed out the LivingGreens , clean the empty trays, reseed and then load them back into the chamber.

  •  How much seed goes on to each tray?

-Each tray is divided into 3 bays. Approximately 2 &1/2 pounds will go into each bay. (7.5 pounds total)

  •  How much will my livestock need to consume of the LivingGreens every day to maintain good health?

-This depends on the size of the animal, what the animal is used for (meat, dairy, performance, breeding, fur/fiber), the time of year, whether or not LivingGreensare used as a high protein supplement or as the main source of feed, and the productivity objectives of the livestock owner. Please consult with our Nutritional Specialist for further information.

  •  How much water and electricity does the system use?

-Approximately 175-200 gallons of water will pass through the system per 24 hour period and electricity will cost between $3-$5 per day depending on electricity rates in your area of the country.

  •  Can I harvest the water that leaves the system?

-Yes, it is suitable to give to your animals or you can send it elsewhere.

  •  Can I use solar panels to power the system?

-Yes, although you will be responsible for this alteration.

  •  What are the operating costs involved with owning a system?

-It costs approximately $118 to produce a ton of LivingGreens in 2 days (including water, seed and electricity).

  •  What is the life expectancy of the system?

-The growing chamber (the most expensive component of the system) is expected to last for 20-30 years depending on operator care. However, components such as the HVAC, pump and lights will have to be replaced as needed according to their expected lifespan.

  •  What kind of nutrition report do you have on the LivingGreens?

-We have certified NFTA lab tests detailing the values of our feed. See our CUT COST page for feed comparisons or call our Nutritional Specialist for specific info.

  •  How often does the inside chamber need to be cleaned?

-A thorough cleaning approximately once every 2-3 months should be performed. A strong bristled brush and a natural cleaner are all that is needed to conduct this maintenance.

  •  How many animals can an ASG 1000 feed?

-This depends on the size of the animal, what the animal is used for (meat, dairy, performance, breeding, fur/fiber), the time of year, the desired ration, whether or not LivingGreens are used as a high protein supplement or as the main source of feed, and the productivity objectives of the livestock owner.

  •  Can I use pond or creek water for the main tank?

-Absolutely not; such water is not compatible with our system’s irrigation components and would void the warranty.

  •  What kind of seeds can I sprout in a system?

-A wide variety of seeds have the ability to be sprouted in the growing chamber. Barley is the seed that is recommended the most because it produces the greatest amount of forage with the highest protein content and because of its thick root mass which holds together nicely when it develops into LivingGreens. Wheat grass is similar to barley and wheat can be used as a substitute if it is more easily obtained. Oats, legumes, sunflower, various grasses and many other seeds can be sprinkled onto the growing trays to create custom blends as well. Note: All Season Greens is capable of being the barley seed supplier for any owner of an ASG growing system.

  • Do I need to use only seed that has been cleaned and screened in the growing chamber?

Yes, you do, because otherwise plant debris will clog drainage holes and prevent optimal seed germination and growth.

  • Will I need to purchase a grain bin or silo to store my seed?

-Yes; the seed needs to be properly stored to insure maximum germination rates. The size of the bin or silo will depend on the number of growing systems and frequency of delivery. However, one semi-truck load of seed would require a silo capable of storing 70,000 pounds.

  •  What will be my animals’ health reaction from eating LivingGreens? Will my animals bloat, scour, or colic?

-An herbivore animal’s food source should be as close to its natural diet as possible, which is chlorophyll-rich grass and plants. All grazing animals would be eating living green grass if possible; they would not be eating processed grains or the majority of unnatural food they are commonly fed in the industry today. God intended grazing animals to eat grass and ASG can provide a feed that has the grass, its seed, and its roots all in one sprouted living greens mat. There have been no animals that have bloated or had colic while eating LivingGreens. Some animals will scour after their diet is changed and this will happen with any type of feed, so it is possible that an animal will scour initially. However, to date, there have been no reports of animals scouring on LivingGreens even when dairy cows consumed up to 100 lbs a day.

  •  What is your warranty?

-The warranty on the structure is 4 years, the warranty on the pump is one year and the warranty on the HVAC has a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty.
